Oh Where Oh Where Did My Winter Go
Last weekend, February 17-19th, Charleston hosted the annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. As taken from the SEWE website www:aewe.com, “SEWE is a three-day showcase of everything we love about wildlife and nature. It brings together people of all ages, men and women, sportsmen and conservationists, artists and artisans, fans and families. Through an incredible lineup of events – from fine art exhibits, conservation education, sporting demonstrations and parties, SEWE invites us all to explore our “wild” side and pay tribute to our naturally beautiful world.” As usual, it was another hugely well attended and successful event. Just another reason to love CharlestonJ. Like The Charleston Boat Show in January, SEWE is one of those winter events in the lowcountry that keep spirits high as we wait for warmer weather.
Well, warmer weather arrived early. Although we are at the end of February, it is sunny and the temperature is expected to reach 80 degrees. From the Isle of Palms to Folly, the beaches will probably be crowded with college students and other sun worshipers trying to get a jump on that summer tan. Warm weather brings about the anticipation of the Flowertown Festival (http://www.charlestoncvb.com/events/flowertown-festival~9764/), Cooper River Bridge Run (http://bridgerun.com), Spoleto Festival (https://spoletousa.org/), Riverdogs Baseball (http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?), harbor cruises and more outdoor and water activities than one can possibly take in. Ah, to live and play in the Charleston area is a treat to be envied. No wonder year after year, the Tri-County area is one of the nation’s leaders in tourism, growth and economic prosperity.
